Employment Opportunities

It is important to note that there are no “volunteers” for Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s temporary works of art – all workers, both skilled and non-skilled, are compensated for their time. Christo is expected to hire more than 600 workers for the Over The River installation. About half of these workers will need to have special engineering and construction expertise to assist with technical installation and removal activities.

Yet Christo will also hire around 350 non-skilled workers to work during the weeks leading up to the exhibition and to act as monitors during the two weeks that Over The River is on display. These temporary employees have played a key role in many of the artists’ previous installations and have had incredible experiences being a part of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s projects. Perhaps the most exciting part about working on Over The River will be the hooking and unfurling of the fabric panels. Preference will be given to local Colorado applicants for these positions.

The Over The River team is currently working to get all the necessary permits for the project and hope to complete this phase in 2012. Once all permits have been secured – assuming favorable decisions – the installation and hiring process will begin.  If you’re interested in working on the project, please sign up for our e-mail list. We will notify you once we have more details about the hiring process, likely sometime in 2012.
